65 refugees to ar­rive in New Ross town

SIXTY FIVE refugees are be­ing homed in New Ross, with one third of these due to ar­rive next week.

Hous­ing of­fi­cer Padraig O’Gorman said as part of Phase 2 of the refugee re­set­tle­ment pro­gramme, 11 hous­ing units have been pur­chased for the fam­i­lies.

Mr O’Gorman said 24 adults and 41 chil­dren will be lo­cated in New Ross.

‘ The first four fam­i­lies will be mov­ing in within the next cou­ple weeks and af­ter that the re­main­ing seven will move in. We’re just wait­ing for the last house pur­chase to close.’

He said a sec­ond re­set­tle­ment sup­port worker has been ap­pointed.

‘She will be­gin here on November 27.’
