New Ross Standard - - NEWS -

GARDAÍ are investigating an allegation that a teenage boy was sexually assaulted numerous times in the New Ross district in 2016.

The assaults are alleged to have occurred in an elderly man’s residence, a man known to the injured party.

A garda spokesperson said: ‘We have investigated a complaint and as with any case where there are any issues and concerns we have been liaising with Tusla and the relevant authorities.’

The alleged perpetrator has been interviewed and statements have been taken and a file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

‘A significant investigation is ongoing,’ the spokesperson added.

The case is one of a number of separtate complaints of sexual assault made to New Ross gardaí in recent times. ‘We can only deal with a case once people make a complaint and then we will investigate it and try to pursue it on behalf of the victim.’
