Speeding at Bosheen Road
EDWARD DUGGAN of Mill House, 16 Newtown Commons, New Ross attended the District Court in Wexford to deal with a speeding summons.
He was detected travelling in excess of the 50 km/h limit at Bosheen Road last July.
The accused motorist said that he considered a fine of €160 and three penalty points was a bit excessive.
He pointed out that the speeding occurred on the New Ross ring road rather than in a built up area.
In response, Judge John Cheatle had some good news for the accused and some bad. On the positive side, the fine was pegged at €80. On the other hand, because the matter went all the way to court, the number of penalty points going on Duggan’s record was five rather than three.
