FIVE lucky readers were feeling the love from the New Ross Standard on Tuesday morning when they were handed crisp €20 notes for picking up their local weekly paper.
The Buy & Win promotion runs every February at shops across the New Ross district and is always a big hit with readers. On a cold Spring morning the eager shoppers were surprised by Advertising Sales Executive Anita Furlong as they picked up their weekly read.
Newbawn man James Doyle drove in especially to Tesco New Ross to get just the newspaper and was delighted with his €20 winnings. ‘It’s a lovely surprise,’ the loyal New Ross Standard reader said.
Over at Gala in the Bosheen Pat Donnelly, having been surprised at the till, said: ‘Ah great! It’s been a lucky morning for me. That will buy me two bags of coal. Thanks!’
Over at Sinnott’s Centra in Irishtown New Ross woman Trish Dunne was picking up three Standards for Millhouse Day Care Centre, along with the Irish Independent.
Trish said she was delighted to receive the money which she plans to donate to the activities fund at the day care centre. The Buy & Win promotion continues every Tuesday over the coming weeks so spread the word as the next winners will soon be €20 to the better.
