Man found with drugs worth €120
PART-TIME coal man Dean O’Neill of 22 Long Meadow, New Ross was caught with €120 worth of drugs, the District Court was told.
Gardaí who attempted to search him in Neville Street on August 28, 2016 found themselves involved in a physical struggle with the accused.
He was brought to the barracks where two bags were recovered, one with €20 worth of cannabis herb and the other containing €100 of cocaine.
His record showed 13 previous convictions for drugs offences.
A two-month jail sentence for obstruction of gardaí was recorded and then suspended once he signed a probation bond.
Judge John Cheatle warned that he likely will go to jail if he picks up any further drugs possession convictions in future.
His solicitor told the court that O’Neill was taking drugs counselling through the Cornmarket Project.
