Duncannon National School pupils enjoy their sports day

THERE WAS a distinct gymnastic feel to this year’s annual Sports Day initiative in Duncannon National School.

The pupils fully embraced the day and showcased great agility and dexterity as they undertook a number of different activities including working with an exercise ball and a trampoline.

The Sixth Class pupils also had their shirts signed by their classmates and fellow pupils, as they prepare to say farewell to primary education and look forward to life in secondary school.

While the sports day event is a great initiative to get the children active and away from the desk environment it also provides an ideal occasion for the pupils and teachers to relax together in an informal setting and everyone took great advantage of that fact this year.

While a lot of the activities took place in the school hall the children also had fun outside where they availed of the current spell of fine weather and embraced the sunshine.

The pupils were praised on the day by the teachers for their enthusiastic approach to each of the events.
