RAMSGRANGE CLONROCHE 4-7 0-9

RAMSGRANGE AND Clonroche went head to head in the Rackard League Roinn ‘C’ hurling final in Innovate Wexford Park recently.

Before the game commenced, it had to be decided which team would wear which colours as both teams sport green and white jerseys.

The decision was made with a toss and Ramsgrange wore maroon jerseys while Clonroche wore their own club colours. Conditions were tough with a strong breeze going Clonroche’s way in the opening half.

Despite the breeze, Ramsgrange hit the net in the opening minutes. Clonroche’s goalie, Callum McCormack, made great saves to deny them a second.

In response to the goal, Ramsgrange scored many lovely points by midfielders McPhillips and Shannon. Eamon Kehoe showed tremendous skill clearing the ball from Clonroche’s defence to aid their drive to score.

Ben Keeley of Clonroche pointed a lovely free to bring them level (0-8 to 2-2) before half-time.

Ramsgrange’s Joseph O’Brien got the second-half off to a good start with a point from a free. It was followed by a goal for his side by centre-forward Josh Delaney.

Clonroche had many scoring chances but with the breeze no longer on their side, many efforts drifted wide. Ben Keeley showed excellent leadership as he continued to battle forward in efforts to bring his team closer.

Shane McDonald made excellent runs up the wing for the Clonroche side. Paul Walsh made a superb run up the field and his efforts were rewarded with an excellent Ramsgrange goal.

The game ended with Ramsgrange the worthy winners on a scoreline of 4-7 to 0-9.

The cup was represented to Ramsgrange’s captain by the Rackard League Chairman, Kevin Waters.
