Hot favourite Masterexplorer unbeaten after dominant show

-

THERE WAS some very good racing on offer at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track last week as several stakes got under way, and with more to follow in the coming weeks, some excellent racing can be expected.

The Whitewood Unraced Stake reached the semi-final stages, and Masterexplorer has emerged as the hot favourite to take this week’s final as he remains unbeaten after another dominant display in a hot semi.

He showed the superior early pace to lead and went on to score by a comfortable four lengths in a fast 28.88 for Kilkenny trainer Peter Cronin.

There was a very good performance in race eight over the 575 trip when the Seán Furlong-owned Fox Cub was sent off favourite and she made no mistake as she led up and raced to a clear victory in a good 31.58. She was recording her seventh race win and her most impressive yet.

The annual Horse and Hound Tridistance Stake got under way on Thursday night and it looks a very competitive stake. It will take some winning if the first round is anything to go by.

Peter Cronin recorded a nice double, with Cinderella having a great battle with Ballinaboola Mia before getting the better of the latter in the closing stages in heat one.

In heat three his Enable took control off the second bend to go on to score by five and a half lengths in a fast 28.77.

The second round will be run this Thursday night over the 550 yards trip.

The John Doyle-owned Kiltrea Brian returned to top form at Shebourne Park on Friday night as he led from trap to line to score a very impressive win in his first round heat of the prestigious Gain Dog Nutrition Corn Cuchulainn 750, recording a fast 41.89 time. He is right in the mix for outright honours.
