A talk on sui­cide and self harm takes place this evening (Tues­day) at 7 p.m. at New Ross Library. This is part of the library ser­vice’s par­ent­ing se­ries of talks. HSE Re­source Of­fi­cer Tracy Nu­gent will ad­vise par­ents and their fam­i­lies and of­fer strate­gies about how to cope when con­fronting sui­cide and self-harm sit­u­a­tions. Tracy works in the area of sui­cide preven­tion, in­ter­ven­tion and preven­tion. She co­or­di­nates the de­vel­op­ment and im­ple­men­ta­tion of Con­nect­ing for Life; Ire­land’s Na­tional Strat­egy to Re­duce Sui­cide 2015 – 2020, at lo­cal level. She is the co-au­thor of the book ‘Lof­tus, the Hall of Dreams’, in which photography, ev­i­dence and com­pre­hen­sive his­tor­i­cal re­search are in­ter­twined with pop­u­lar myth.

He­lena holds a diploma in psy­chic de­vel­op­ment and is a mem­ber of the London Col­lege of Psy­chic Stud­ies, the In­ter­na­tional Gothic As­so­ci­a­tion and the Ir­ish Writ­ers Union. To book phone 051 421877.
