A constructive fundraiser with a difference has been cemented into the local calendar in Ballyhack and Arthurstown.

The King’s Bay Inn have raised the bar with their brick fundraiser which involves people buying a brick upon which they can have their name etched – all to raise money for Ballyhack NS. 930 bricks in total have been sourced and they will be used to construct a wall in the beer garden at the popular Arthurstown pub and cafe.

King’s Bay Inn owner Mary Lawlor said: ‘ They can put their own name, their grandchild’s name or their dog’s name on the bricks which are going up this week and cost €5 each. We’ve already had one person in who bought 13 to name the entire family.’

The total sum raised is expected to come to €4,500.

The red bricks can be bought from the bar which Mary opened last year and which is about to have a new permanent feature in its beer garden.
