Fethard post office to get digital information kiosk
FETHARD- ON-SEA post office has been selected for a kiosk which will provide customers with access to Government and local authority information and services.
Fethard post office is one of ten post offices nationally where the kiosks are being rolled out.
The Irish Postmasters’ Union (IPU) has welcomed the announcement of the Digital Assist pilot programme in the post offices. The announcement includes government funding of €80,000 to equip the post offices. Postmasters at each office have been trained in use of the machines. In addition people can print out their important information free of charge. The first kiosk has been unveiled at Fogarty’s Quickpick and Post Office in Ballymore Eustace, and the remaining kiosks are to be unveiled over the coming months, including in Fethardon-Sea.
IPU General Secretary Ned O’Hara welcomed the initiative, saying: ‘We need to now continue to build on services and offerings at our post offices. There are further services that have been committed by An Post which include: Motor tax, vehicle registration and driving licences, identity verification and additional Bill Pay services.’
