Fethard post of­fice to get dig­i­tal in­for­ma­tion kiosk

FETHARD- ON-SEA post of­fice has been se­lected for a kiosk which will pro­vide cus­tomers with ac­cess to Government and lo­cal author­ity in­for­ma­tion and services.

Fethard post of­fice is one of ten post of­fices na­tion­ally where the kiosks are be­ing rolled out.

The Ir­ish Post­mas­ters’ Union (IPU) has wel­comed the an­nounce­ment of the Dig­i­tal As­sist pilot pro­gramme in the post of­fices. The an­nounce­ment in­cludes government fund­ing of €80,000 to equip the post of­fices. Post­mas­ters at each of­fice have been trained in use of the ma­chines. In ad­di­tion peo­ple can print out their im­por­tant in­for­ma­tion free of charge. The first kiosk has been un­veiled at Fog­a­rty’s Quick­pick and Post Of­fice in Bal­ly­more Eus­tace, and the re­main­ing kiosks are to be un­veiled over the com­ing months, in­clud­ing in Fethardon-Sea.

IPU Gen­eral Sec­re­tary Ned O’Hara wel­comed the ini­tia­tive, say­ing: ‘We need to now con­tinue to build on services and of­fer­ings at our post of­fices. There are fur­ther services that have been com­mit­ted by An Post which in­clude: Mo­tor tax, ve­hi­cle reg­is­tra­tion and driv­ing li­cences, iden­tity ver­i­fi­ca­tion and ad­di­tional Bill Pay services.’
