Grow Mental Health provides vital support in Wexford

-

WITH the number of enquiries to Grow Mental Health soaring by 400% since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the charity is hosting online support groups throughout the country and several of these serve the county of Wexford.

As well as the long-established Wexford groups being facilitated by Area Coordinator Treasa Twomey, many more groups have also been established online specifically to welcome newcomers.

Grow Mental Health’s peer-support service, operating in Ireland since 1969, is a testament to the vital role that other people play in the recovery of the individual.

Its 12-Step Program is a collection of tried and tested practical tips, wisdom and encouragement that members find helpful on their own journey of recovery.

One wisdom, “You Alone Can Do It But You Cannot Do It Alone”, particularly resonates with members at the moment, who are feeling increased isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Considering the pandemic we have all been living through and the time of year, reaching out to one another has never been so important. We see in our support groups every day how the non-judgmental presence of another human being can have a transformative effect on the recovery of those with mental health challenges,” said Michele Kerrigan, CEO of Grow Mental Health.
