There’s something special about the autumn – the beautiful colours, the stunning sunrises and sunsets – it just makes you want to get out and enjoy our lovely island. It’s also the time of the year when we need to mind ourselves. The sudden change in temperature can mean colds, flu and the likes. So ’tis also the time to be mindful of what you eat and try to boost your immune system, stay healthy and add extra vegetables, protein, minerals and vitamins into our diets.

Autumn is the time to add bold flavours to your dishes, like garam masala, cardamom, fresh ginger or lime and even adding a few squares of dark chocolate to casseroles is delicious. Another two ingredients that I find myself using more of at this time of the year are dates and molasses. Most of all, though, cook from the heart and enjoy a little of what you love.
