Debut director Kokotajlo was reared as a Jehovah’s Witness and he uses his experiences to shape this powerful and heart-felt drama. Set in Oldham, it’s the story of a devout family of Witnesses, Ivanna (Siobhan Finneran) and her two daughters, Luisa (Sacha Parkinson) and Alex (Molly Wright), whose faith, loyalty and family bonds are tested when Luisa becomes pregnant by her Muslim boyfriend and she finds herself expelled from the community.
