DAVID AND MARK’S ADVICE FOR OTHER BUSINESSES

Sunday Independent (Ireland) - Business & Appointments - - FRONT PAGE -

It is important to have a unique and excellent quality product to sell before you start. But having a brilliant product is not enough. You have to build strong brand recognition, often against stiff competition so a clearly defined message for your brand is vital, particularly if you are considering selling abroad. Starting and growing a business is hard. You must be willing to put in the effort and work yourself to a standstill, and you really must have a passion for what you do otherwise you will never be able to sustain the level of effort required. As business owners, we tend to think no one else can do things as well as we can. But it is important to realise when it is time to hire a team to take on elements of the business that are not your strength to free yourself up for those areas where your strengths lie. You simply cannot scale your business without the support of a strong and committed team.
