This website provides information on the NonPrincipal Private Residence charge (NPPR), which is also known as the second home tax. It has a handy FAQ section where you can find out about the exemptions to the NPPR, whether or not you were liable for the NPPR if you moved home a few years ago, and the charges and late payment fees you face if paying an outstanding NPPR bill. This website, run by the Revenue Commissioners, allows you to file and pay your local property tax (LPT) online — and to manage any household charge arrears online. The FAQS link has a useful section on LPT issues when selling a property, including the steps which should be taken before closing the sale — and the information which must be provided to your solicitor.
