This TV star, stylist and interventionist moved to Hollywood on a whim. Jacqui grew up in Donaghmede and then lived in Skerries for 12 years before making the move to Los Angeles. “It’s hard to explain, but it was a strong inner knowing,” she says of the decision. “Call it intuition, but it wasn’t until February 2010 that I got up the courage to make the move. I just booked flights and checked myself into a hotel for a week. I had never been to LA before.” She’s worked with Hollywood A-listers. Jacqui was a successful fashion buyer and stylist while living in Dublin. Following her LA move, she worked with celebrity clientele such as Jamie Foxx, rapper Snoop Dogg, Russell Brand and former supermodel Janice Dickinson. However, these days Jacqui is more concerned with people’s insides. “My work used to consist of fashion interventions, but now I work as an interventionist. I get to help people who are affected by drug and alcohol addiction,” Jacqui explains. “I work with a number of different treatment centres in California. I found my true passion and calling by doing this work; it is so fulfilling for me.” She’s a proud Irish cailin. “I travelled a lot before moving to America and the Irish are loved everywhere,” says Jacqui. “It makes me very proud to be Irish and proud of our country. Ireland really is beautiful.”

TV presenting is yet another string to

her bow. Jacqui was bitten by the TV bug following a co-presenting gig on former supermodel Janice Dickinson’s show. “I’d love to continue TV presenting. My vision, eventually, would be to represent Irish TV, based here in Hollywood,” says Jacqui. “I could be Ireland’s Hollywood correspondent!”

She’s a typical Irish Mammy. “I am a very proud mother of a teenager,” Jacqui smiles. “My son, who will be 18 this year, lives in LA with me and he loves it here too. He is very mature and independent, but I am still a very overprotective mother. I love being a mother and I am that before anything. Kids are the greatest gift to us.”

Her dad handles doves. Jacqui is often homesick, but like her father’s homing birds, she finds her way home every now and then. “I miss my family a lot being out here. I am the eldest of five children,” Jacqui tells me. “My dad handles white doves. He has a free service where he releases the doves for various events. He spent a year breeding and training them to fly back to where they now live in Wexford, and somehow they find their way back to him.”

Jacqui went to LA on a whim as a fashion buyer and stylist, says Joanna Kiernan, now she has found her passion

working with addicts
