An excellent steak and seafood restaurant located on the first floor over the atmospheric Strand Bar in the seaside village of Strandhill. Tra Ban, sister restaurant to Sligo’s popular Eala Bhan, is named for the beach it overlooks and has stunning views out over the Monastic Settlement on Inishmurray Island.

‘Sammy the seal’ has joined Fungie in the world of celebrity sealife attractions, pitching up daily to be fed outside The Fishman and its new Lighthouse seafood restaurant on the South Quay in Wicklow Town. There’s a lovely atmosphere, with That’s Amore playing during my visit. Lots of seafood and daily specials.
