‘You either get bitter or you get better. It’s that simple.

You either take what has been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person, or you allow it to tear you down.

The choice does not belong to fate, it belongs to you.’

I often think of this Josh Shipp quote these days. It’s been six years since my younger sister Tricia passed away at the age of 30, following a four-year battle with breast cancer. It doesn’t get easier, but I’ve got more used to it, I suppose.

Anyhoo, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and being aware of breast cancer and supporting the worthwhile charities is vital.

Jo Malone London is donating a huge €25 to The Cancer Research Trust from every Irish sale of Red Roses Cologne, below left, €109.

If you’ve never tried a primer before, maybe give Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer Water a go, as every €4 of the €25 price tag is donated. It hydrates and preps skin for make-up application, as well as making the make-up stick to your face! Your foundation will stay put all day.

Finally, Bobbi Brown’s limited-edition Art Stick Duo €44, above, both of which double as lipliner and lipstick, are perfect for pink-loving ladies like myself!

There’s Electric Pink, above left, a bright shade of fuchsia, which I’m also wearing in my photo, above; and a soft neutral shade, Dusky Pink, above right. Ten euro of the purchase price goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
