DARREN KENNEDY TV presenter

Sunday Independent (Ireland) - Life - - STYLE NOTEBOOK -

Each new phase comes with different breakthrough moments. One of the earliest ones in my career was getting a reporting job alongside the late, great Gerry Ryan on his 2FM show and on

Gerry was incredibly generous to me and it’s where I cut my teeth in broadcasting in many respects. It also gave me the confidence to look to new markets. My first UK gig was presenting a new 13-part series

for the BBC, which was a fantastic introduction to a new audience.

Another career turning point was venturing into the world of design. It’s invigorating to be working and learning from mega brands such as Specsavers.

I think the real breakthrough for me was realising it’s not just about ‘the destination’ but enjoying the journey.

The new ‘Darren Kennedy Recommends’ collection lands in Specsavers nationwide this month. See specsavers.ie/darren-kennedy
