Sun shines on Johnny for daughter’s wedding day
WHEN your dad is Johnny Ronan, maybe he can have a word with God about the weather for your big day. And so it proved last weekend in Kilternan. Because God (who wears his beard in a similar style to the buccaneer from Carrick-on-suir) provided Jodie Ronan with the hottest day of the year for her wedding to her beau, John Savage.
The Kilternan Parish Church on Enniskerry Road last Saturday was the venue for this typically understated wedding for family and close friends (among them: Guggi, Dave Kavanagh, Robbie Fox and the blushing Simon Carmody Community themselves.) Indeed, the wedding showed what a close-knit family the Ronans are (Johnny’s sister Gill attended), to say nothing of attractive.
As my late mother would say, they are a very goodlooking family. Mary Ronan, looking goddess-like in a blue gown in the shimmering sun, looked more like Jodie’s sister than her mother.
As for the father-of-thebride, friends told me that Johnny never looked happier in his life as he did last Saturday, giving his beautiful daughter away. The sons — John Junior and James — are the image of their famous dad, too.
The recession is officially over now, as Johnny Ronan is smiling like his good old self once more, as you can see from the above photograph. Answers on a postcard as to what Johnny is joking about to his daughter. “I probably spent more getting my hair done than you, Jodie!”
Glad to have him back.
