Five-day Bieber Fever at Dr Smurfit’s K Club
Was there a doctor in the house? It would appear not. But bear with me. The K Club — owned by none other than Dr Michael Smurfit — had Bieber Fever.
The spectacularly swish fivestar hotel in Kildare played host to Justin Bieber and his entourage all last week before his sold-out show at the RDS on Wednesday night.
He stayed in the €20,000-a-night Straffan House residence on the grounds of the 550-acre K Club estate for five nights.
Doubtless he got a significant discount because this is his second visit to Smurfit’s sumptuous establishment. He flew out for a show in France yesterday morning.
He was spotted on the golf course last Tuesday afternoon for a round of golf (and spending time in the rooftop bar of The Marker Hotel on Grand Canal Square later last Tuesday).
Irish movie star Victoria Smurfit, on a whirlwind visit from her adopted home of Los Angeles, was also spotted in the famous hotel, owned by her uncle, last week with her kids. But back to the Bieber. The Prince of Pop’s palatial home-from-home in Kildare came equipped with its own swimming pool, plus its own private chef and staff, plus 10 bedrooms, its own spa and gym.
That other Prince, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and his wife Charlene and children, spent 10 days (and possibly well over €200,000) at Straffan House last Christmas.
