Reasons To Be Cheerful

Miliband came to podcasting pretty accidentally, in the wake of his late (and largely unlamented) leadership of the Labour party. He stood in for Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio 2 earlier in the year and proved to be a natural — easily encouraging kooky but very human confessions and contributions from listeners.
Reasons To be Cheerful is a podcast ‘about ideas’, which means Miliband and Lloyd, who is ex-absolute Radio, discussing antidotes to our current societal set-up, including the idea of universal basic income as a solution to inequality — a notion that is fast moving from the realm of the fantastical, to the accepted, with the real discussions now happening around ‘how’ and not ‘if’ — and the impact of big tech companies on our lives.
The two are joined by various ‘smart thinkers’ as guests, including mayor of London Sadiq Khan and writer Nick Srnicek, and the chat is mighty.
