Scots striker uses his head as Ireland beaten
IRELAND lost out to Scotland for the second year in a row in the Hurling/ Shinty international at Inverness, going down 2-12 to 0-15.
The hosts led by 1-5 to 0-5 at the interval but Ireland came back to tie the game 1-9 to 0-12 before an attempted clearance by Laois goalkeeper Enda Rowland’s was blocked down by Roddy MacDonald and the ball ended up in the back of the net off the attacker’s helmet.
Scotland then extended their lead with star performer Kevin Bartlett scoring 1-9 for the game.
Ireland had some late chances but Scotland were always just about in control. contest and it set the tone as Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, Lewis Carmichael, Neil Cochrane, Murray McCallum (two), Fraser McKenzie, Stuart McInally, and Kinghorn again all crossed, adding to a penalty try. Kinghorn added four conversions, James Tovey kicked three and Hidalgo-Clyne two more and a penalty.
Edinburgh started the day level on five points with Krasny Yar at the top of the group.
