Scots striker uses his head as Ire­land beaten

IRE­LAND lost out to Scot­land for the sec­ond year in a row in the Hurl­ing/ Shinty in­ter­na­tional at In­ver­ness, go­ing down 2-12 to 0-15.

The hosts led by 1-5 to 0-5 at the in­ter­val but Ire­land came back to tie the game 1-9 to 0-12 be­fore an at­tempted clear­ance by Laois goal­keeper Enda Row­land’s was blocked down by Roddy MacDon­ald and the ball ended up in the back of the net off the at­tacker’s hel­met.

Scot­land then ex­tended their lead with star per­former Kevin Bartlett scor­ing 1-9 for the game.

Ire­land had some late chances but Scot­land were al­ways just about in con­trol. con­test and it set the tone as Sam Hi­dalgo-Clyne, Lewis Carmichael, Neil Cochrane, Mur­ray McCal­lum (two), Fraser McKen­zie, Stu­art McI­nally, and Kinghorn again all crossed, adding to a penalty try. Kinghorn added four con­ver­sions, James Tovey kicked three and Hi­dalgo-Clyne two more and a penalty.

Ed­in­burgh started the day level on five points with Krasny Yar at the top of the group.
