Rovers get into stride by winning Mills Cup
THREE Rock Rovers warmed up for today’s Irish Senior Cup quarter-final away to Cork CI with a 4-2 win over Corinthians in the Mills Cup final.
Rovers were fully tested by their Leinster League neighbours in the match at Grange Road, especially during the first half which finished 3-2 in favour of the eventual winners.
Three Rock later wore down their opponents with some dazzling stickwork leaving them two up so that they could afford the luxury of Luke Madeley’s wild miss from the penalty spot.
There were goals for the victors from the Mullins brothers, John and Kevin, along with Ross Canning and Darragh Walsh, while Jonathan Roberts and Stephen Reid posted the scores for Corinthians before the break.
Railway Union’s young team took the Jacqui Potter Cup as they overcame UCD 3-0, the goals coming from Niamh Carey (two) and Nina Heisterkamp.
