Ireland’s winner on the left wing

Sunday Independent (Ireland) - Sport - - RUGBY -

AGRAND SLAM on and off the pitch. While Ireland were creating records on their way to a stunning Grand Slam, were making a few of their own.

Our rugby podcast, The Left Wing with Luke Fitzgerald, has been a huge success, with the 30th show recorded just a few days after Joe Schmidt’s side thumped England at Twickenham.

Johnny Sexton was our special guest on that episode and the Ireland number 10 gave us a 40-minute, compelling insight into the past eight weeks.

And in the build up to the grand finale against England, we brought the show on the road for the first time with Robbie Henshaw and Scott Fardy joining Luke and host Will Slattery in a packed-out Kennedy’s pub on Westland Row. Our marquee guests, coupled with a vibrant dynamic in Fitzgerald and Slattery, has been reflected in the numbers. The Left Wing has firmly established itself as Ireland’s leading sports podcast, occupying the number one spot on iTunes consistently all year and smashing through 600k listens after 30 shows so far. We also added a visual element to our content with Luke and Will hosting The Left Wing LIVE every Monday during the Six Nations with Sean O’Brien among the guests as the panel dissected the weekend action.

And on Independent.ie, 1,753,348 unique visitors generated 12 million page impressions on our Six Nations content.

Thanks for being part of our Six Nations experience.
