Warwickshire take title as Louth beaten

Sunday Independent (Ireland) - Sport - - RACING -

LATE points from Niall McKenna (two frees), and impressive centre back Paul Hoban from a ’65 secured the Division 3A title for Warwickshire over Louth, 0-20 to 1-14 at Trim yesterday.

This proved a closely fought encounter throughout with the sides’ level on nine different occasions. A well executed goal from Gerard Smyth put Louth in the ascendancy in the early stages and they eventually led 1-6 to 0-7 at the break.

Warwickshire hit back with the first three points of the second half to go in front and the sides swapped the leads after that. It looked for a while that extra-time might be needed to separate the sides before the Exiles produced the stronger finish.
