Rookie Mitchell takes blame for Utah defeat
THE Houston Rockets have a 2-1 series lead after beating Utah 113-92 and Jazz rookie Donovan Mitchell says he deserves the blame. Mitchell, who is averaging 26.1 points per game in the playoffs, was held to 10 points and hit just four of his 16 shots.
“It’s like I would have been better off not showing up, and that’s what I did,” Mitchell said. “I didn’t show up at all for my team-mates. I’ll fix it.”
The Rockets used seven different defenders on Mitchell through the game, putting constant pressure on the budding star.
Jazz coach Quin Snyder praised the Rockets’ defense, but predicted an adjustment for Mitchell in Game 4, tonight in Salt Lake City.
