Campbell finds target to see off West Brom Real leave it late to give Solari a victory
FRAIZER Campbell scored his second goal in as many games as struggling Hull beat promotion contenders West Brom 1-0 at the KCOM Stadium. The three points were well deserved by Hull who defended in numbers but also threatened a visiting team lacking in ideas. Campbell settled the issue with a composed finish near the end of the first half after a header from Jackson Irvine bounced off the bar.
Hull almost grabbed the lead just three minutes in as Kamil Grosicki cut back on to his right foot and sent over a deep cross which Jarrod Bowen headed back from a tight angle, only to see his effort turned on to the bar by goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. SANTIAGO Solari’s first La Liga game in charge of Real Madrid ended in a 2-0 victory against Real Valladolid at the Bernabeu but they were forced to wait for their win. Madrid squandered several chances and lived dangerously at the other end as the dogged visitors twice hit the crossbar in the second half.
However, Solari’s side finally made the breakthrough in the 83rd minute through Kiko’s own goal before captain Sergio Ramos stepped up and scored from the penalty spot two minutes from time. It was Real Madrid’s first win in six league matches and halted a three-game losing run in the competition.
