Pedigree eggs

-

“Orpington hens laid the Queen Mother’s favourite eggs,” says Caroline Jolley, right, of Stillorgan Community Garden, pointing out a happy hen rolling around amid her exotic brood of La Bresse, Gold Tops, Araucana and noisy Silkies. They produce free-range blue, green, white and brown eggs, which are sold on site. Caroline, an absolute dynamo, runs the community garden, which is located behind St. Brigid’s School. Here, she teaches kids to enjoy themselves old style — grow veggies, keep bees, raise hens or look for tadpoles. There’s a bat box, a wild meadow, and 14 people of all ages and nationalities also grow veg on raised beds. Magic. See facebook.com/pg/Growing2gether Lucinda O’Sullivan
