SORRY to have missed Bray Congress, but it was once again a huge success according to everyone I spoke to. Italy got in the way.

And, again, well done Anne Daly for her superb organisation and to the Bray members who won pretty much everything up for grabs.

Next on the agenda for bridge players is the very popular Drogheda Congress at the Westcourt Hotel which takes place over the weekend of October 6-8.

The usual programme schedule will apply, starting with mixed pairs at 7.45pm on the first evening. On the following days, both Congress pairs and the teams will start at 12 noon.

And don’t forget there are numerous Grand Prix prizes for all grades. If you wish to throw your hat into the ring, entries should be sent to Peter Byrne at peterbyrne1entriesw@hot

Before that, however, we have Duais an Uachtarain in Donegal, followed by the Lady Milne Trials, which will take place over just one weekend from September 29 to October 1. Poor bidding with 7H on, but missing the HK hardly likely to be in it. I think N should open 2C. That is a real powerhouse.
