Trail launch honours legendary writer
THE memory of Con Houlihan, who often wrote for the Sunday Independent, Sunday World and Herald, was celebrated last weekend in his native Castle Island with the launch of the Con Houlihan Trail, which consists of 14 wall-mounted plaques at key points round the town.
Included on each plaque is a chosen quotation from one of Ireland’s greatest ever sports journalists, who also wrote about art, theatre and literature.
The Con Houlihan Trail is a fitting tribute to the legendary Kerry writer, who died on August 4, 2012.
