We take apart the five most common Ford Service myths and replace them with Ford Service facts

FICTION #1

Ford servicing is far more expensive than other non-Ford servicing outlets.

FORD FACT #1

According to industry insiders and the results of Ford’s own research, there is little or no significant difference in cost between Ford and non-Ford outlets.

While the training of technicians and the special parts used may be slightly more costly, labour is only one part of the overall servicing costs. Some non-Ford workshops charge higher prices for often low-quality parts. Ford technicians are required, however, to use factory original parts. These are higher quality and are far less likely to lead to further servicing.

Ford is so confident about their pricing, that they have a Price Match Guarantee. Ford will match the price to any like-forlike quote for service/parts offered by any local non-Ford outlet.

FICTION #2 FORD FACT #2

Using a Ford workshop guarantees quality. A non-Ford workshop cannot guarantee the same peace-of-mind to customers that a Ford workshop can.

Another vitally important point to consider when it comes to where to service your car is this: Ford servicing protects the resale value of your vehicle. You will get more for a Ford that has an official service history.

What’s more, every Ford technician carries out an electronic health check (Ford eCheck) on every vehicle that comes through the workshop and then presents the results to the customer. Ford technicians also have access to specialised information on every Ford vehicle sold which gives them more background on anything that could be wrong. Non-Ford workshops do not have this ability.

Also, in the unlikely event that you break down while on the road, you and your vehicle will be brought back to your nearest Ford Dealer by the AA with the Service Activated Roadside Assistance (SARA). Ford looks after their customers and goes the extra mile - literally! This makes them a unique customer-focused service, one that cannot be matched by non-Ford outlets.

FICTION #3

Non-Ford Workshops understand Ford vehicles just as well as Ford Workshops.

FORD FACT #3

As you may be gathering by now, no one knows your Ford vehicle like a Ford Workshop Technician, who are specially trained experts in all Ford models.

All of the technicians are licensed by the Ford Motor Company and they follow an extensive training programme. After completing this programme, many go on to Ford Senior technician level and become Ford Master technicians.

This special training ensures that all Ford technicians are incredibly familiar with your Ford vehicle and its technology. As a result, they are able to identify problems more accurately and quicker than anyone else. This reduces the cost of any repair needed.

Ford’s new video reporting technology also means technicians can explain the service and repair work to customers with a clear video (Ford Video Check). Technicians can see exactly what needs to be done as can customers, so there are no surprises along the way.

FICTION #4

Today’s vehicles do not need as much maintenance as before, so there’s no need for regular servicing by the main Ford dealer - or anyone else.

FORD FACT #4

It is true that brand new Ford vehicles have longer service intervals. This is because they are more technologically advanced than ever before. However, they still require regular care to keep them roadworthy and as safe as can be.

Skipping regular servicing can lead to component failure, which can lead to costly repairs. You should always keep your Ford in the best condition to make it reliable and safe to drive, while maintaining its resale value.

FICTION #5

The parts used in repairing and servicing a Ford vehicle are the same in any service outlet.

FORD FACT #5

You are only guaranteed original Ford parts in a Ford workshop. Parts used by non-Ford workshops can be completely unknown. This brings the quality and safety of those parts and the servicing itself into question.

When using a Ford workshop, you can relax knowing that the original parts used to service and repair your Ford vehicle are the same type of quality parts that were used in your vehicle when it was originally built. This ensures the smooth running of your Ford throughout its lifetime and makes your driving experience as trouble-free as possible.
