Search for dissident arms in Co Louth

Gardai concluded searches for hides used by dissident republicans to store arms in a wooded area near the Border yesterday. Some 1,000 rounds of ammunition and a mortar tube were discovered near Omeath, Co Louth, last Friday.

The ammunition, for use in small arms and semi-automatic rifles, was concealed in lunchboxes. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
