Elderly woman dies after house fire

Gardai are investigating the death of woman in her 70s in her Ballina home yesterday morning. It is thought she lived alone on Bunree Road, Co Mayo.

Gardai suspect she died of smoke inhalation and there were signs of a small fire in the room opposite to where she was sleeping. There was little damage to the property and her death is not considered to have been suspicious.
