BUSINESS LESSONS

-

Leading an organisation of 650 staff and up to 8,000 indirect workers, what is your management style? Success is achieved with the dedication and commitment of a large team around me. It is all about respect. Everyone in the business has their part to play. Take time to know who works with you and let them know you appreciate their contribution.

Who is your role model in business? My father has a canny business brain. He is my business and life mentor, with a strong moral code. He raised seven of us and ran the family business in rural Ireland, and sacrificed a lot to put us all through university.

Do you have a favourite building? I enjoy visiting the National Gallery in London, which is a great place for contemplation.

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever received? Don’t have regrets. Learn and move forward.

What was your childhood ambition? I was very modest. I wanted to be either The Pope or the US President.
