Dundalk woman at inauguration ball for Trump

The Argus - - NEWS - By OLIVIA RYAN Cathy Maguire.

DUNDALK woman Cathy Maguire saw both sides of current US debate when she attended the inauguration ball for President Donald Trump in Washington D.C last weekend.

The local singer and musician, who has been living in New York for the last seven years, also attended the major ‘Women’s March’ in the city the following day, where she live streamed the event on her Facebook page.

Speaking about the mixed reaction to her attendance at the inauguration ball, Cathy said: ‘Everyone is entitled to their opinions. That’s what makes this country great.’

‘But as I said in my video, I refuse to be dragged into any kind of political debate on social media. I have a lot of amazing Democratic and Republican friends and I accept everyone for who they are. She insisted: ‘If the Inauguration Ball was for Hilary Clinton last night or Bernie Sanders, or any other candiate, I would still have been there, in awe and taking the whole thing in and streaming live so people could experience it with me. I’m a guest in this country, an observer..and far be it from me to start commenting on how the American people should vote and govern their own country..
