Man was beaten during robbery
A 39-year-old man is recovering this week after being robbed and beaten by three men.
Gardai are investigating the incident, which happened at Defenders’ Row some time between 1.15am and 1.4am on Saturday. The victim was walking when he was approached by a man who was unknown to him and he was punched in the face.
The victim was knocked to the ground and two more men appeared, rifling through his pockets and stealing his phone and other items. He was kicked and punched while he was on the ground before the men ran off in the direction of Jocelyn Street.
The first man is described as being around 6ft tall and was wearing black clothing. He spoke with a Northern accent. The victim was treated for cuts and bruises to his face and body.
Meanwhile a 35-year-old man was questioned when Gardai searched a house at Culhane Street on Monday and a small amount of heroin was found. And a 25-year-old man was found to have a small quantity of cannabis on him when the car he was in was stopped by Gardai at Quay Street, also on Monday.
A Stanley knife was found on a 26-year-old man when he was stopped and searched at Sliabh Foy Park, Muirhevnmor at around 8pm on Saturday. Gardai also took a knife from a 27-year-old last Tuesday when he was stopped at Seatown. Number plates were stolen from cars at Glenmore Park on Friday and in a separate incident at the Demesne the same day.
