Ghana ap­peal

THE staff at Aura Swimming pool and leisure cen­tre have launched a footwear and footie wear ap­peal for Ghana.

‘Ev­ery year we like to start off by do­ing some­thing good and this year we have de­cided to work with Conor Hughes from Cross Cause and sup­port them in the great work they do,’ said Josephine Pep­per, Aura man­ager.

Conor and his team are fully pledged vol­un­teers with Cross cause who work with an on the ground vol­un­teer in the Volta Re­gion in Ghana sup­port­ing five dif­fer­ent schools and three leper com­mu­ni­ties in var­i­ous projects and ini­tia­tives.

‘We at Aura Dun­dalk have de­cided to fo­cus on two ar­eas that would add value to these com­mu­ni­ties both prac­ti­cally and so­cially; so we need the help of lo­cal peo­ple.

‘We are ap­peal­ing for good qual­ity foot­ball shoes, in pairs only, for adults or kids but no heavy duty ones. We also need foot­ball jer­seys. The kids and in­deed adults would love foot­ball jer­seys ei­ther in­di­vid­ual ones or a team kit that is no longer needed.’

The col­lec­tion point at Aura will run from Satur­day 21 Jan­uary un­til Sat 11th Fe­bru­ary.
