Unfortunately our Intermediate team were beaten in the semi final of the Championship a couple of weeks ago by O’Connells. Although the team failed to get promotion to Division 1 or win the championship the team had a solid year and were unlucky in both competitions. The club would like to thank all of the players, the team manager Paddy White, selectors Vincent Osborne and Gerry Leonard, physical trainer Ciaran McArdle, physio Ferdia McKeown, water carriers and anyone else who helped with the team during the year. The team has plenty of potential and hopefully the lads can bounce back in 2018.

ON a dreadful night for football our U-16s booked a spot in the Division 2A league final with a great win over St Pat’s. The first half was a very evenly contested game with both defences on top and the visitors led by 0-5 points to 0-4 at half-time. The second half it was the hosts who took a real grip of the game and with their overall team play being a joy to watch & with some fine point taking turned the half time deficit into a lead early in the second half a lead they were never to lose. They added 2-7 which included two very well taken goals and kept the Pats to 1-1 with their goal coming in injury time. Scorers: Glen Stewart 1-07, Adam Fee 1-01, Fintan Watters 0-1, James McArdle 0-1, & Adam McKay 0-1. Team: J Martin, D Callan, S Dawe, L O’Donnell, P Lynch, J McDonnell, A Grant, G Stewart, A McKay, J McArdle, G Browne, F Watters, S Carthy, A Fee, M McCourt. Subs: M Byrne for S Carthy ,K Carroll for M McCourt, D Keenan for D Callan , M Green, A Ralph, D Reilly, B Kelly & J McKay.

THE Sean O’Mahony’s/Dowdallhill U13s were well beaten in their county final on Wednesday night in atrocious conditions in a wet and windswept Darver. The Glyde Rangers/Sean McDermotts/Westerns/St Mochtas combo got off to a great with the gale on their backs and the Dundalk lads could not get the goals needed to get back into the game, try as the might. The rain and strong wind petered out somewhat just before half time and but by then the combination led by 3-6 to 2 points. At the start of the second half the boys from the Quay did have plenty of attempts at goal but only one green flag was raised as the opposition’s crowded goalmouth somehow kept them a bay. As the second half wore on the, the lads from west Louth’s physical size, age and greater options from the bench told, and they kicked some great scores to leave a final score of 5-11 to 1-2. Well done to all involved on both sides, as it was very difficult conditions to play football. Team & Scorers: Daniel Shields, Dillon O’Neill, Donal McGuinness, Steven McCormack, Brian McCahaill, Daniel Crawley, Tiernan Cassidy 0-1, Scott Hearty 0-1, Davidos Vacialikus 1-0, Cathal Bradley, Ciaran Redmond, Ferdia Quinn, Emmet O’Hanrahan. Subs Used: Calum Fizsimions, Aaron Heaney.
