Could Ice Rink not go elsewhere?

The Argus - - NEWS -

DEAR Sir,

I don’t want to come across as a killjoy, but I see that the Dundalk on Ice rink has been inserted onto our lovely Market Square again this year and will remain there for the next two months, an eyesore in the centre of our town at the most magical time of the year.

I know it’s a great asset and amenity to the town at Christmas, but could it be placed somewhere else? What about the old Dunnes Stores premises in Park Street?

There would be no unsightly prefab and the front of the premises could be done up, which would also brighten up Park Street over the Christmas period.

The Market Square could then be used for something else - maybe a Dundalk Christmas Market, allowing local businesses to broaden their customer base. Maybe have a big screen showing Christmas movies.

I think this could be magical in the centre of our town. The Square could then be linked through the Demense Shopping Centre by a Christmas themed walkway over the now indoor ice rink.

Just an idea!!

Yours sincerely,

Briege Kelly,

Mountain View, Lurgankeel,

Kilcurry, Dundalk.
