‘Ex­pen­sivenight out’

Af­ter a 31-year-old-man paid €250 to char­ity, and had two pub­lic or­der charges struck out, Judge Coughlan noted it was a very ex­pen­sive night out for the de­fen­dant.

Thomas Camp­bell, Rosskeagh, Kil­curry, pleaded guilty to be­ing in­tox­i­cated and a dan­ger to him­self and oth­ers, and en­gag­ing in threat­en­ing, abu­sive and in­sult­ing be­hav­iour in Park Street, Dun­dalk, on 21 Oc­to­ber, 2017.

So­lic­i­tor Peter Lav­ery said his client has no pre­vi­ous con­vic­tions, and had apol­o­gised to gar­daí.

Ev­i­dence was heard that he was dis­qual­i­fied from driv­ing at the time.

So­lic­i­tor Frank McDon­nell said his client does not en­joy good health.

Judge Coughlan sen­tenced Quigley to five months, and im­posed 10-year driv­ing dis­qual­i­fi­ca­tion.
