Sales rep fined for hit and run

The Argus - - NEWS -

A 53-year-old sales rep has been fined a total of €1,600 on four hit and run charges.

Paul Casey, 88 Ard Na Mara, Blackrock, admitted the offences which occurred last St. Patrick’s Day.

Sergeant Fintan McGroder said that on 17 March, 2017, the defendant reversed into a parked car, then fled the scene.

He was identified by someone who knew him.

Casey pleaded guilty to failing to give the appropriate information, failing to remain at the scene, failing to report and failing to stop.

Solicitor Niall Breen said his client simply panicked, and is deeply embarrassed over this.

His insurance company had compensated the other party, and he has with him a further €800 compensation to offer.

There are no previous convictions. Judge Coughlan imposed a €500 fine on each of three of the charges, and a €100 fine on the other.
