Cyber security key theme of Dundalk event
AS part of Local Enterprise Week 2018 the Local Enterprise Office Louth and Dundalk Chamber of Commerce are joining forces to focus on the issue of Cyber Security for business.
A conference aimed at the business sector is being held on March 7th from 7:45 am to 9:15 am in the Crowne Plaza, Dundalk.
A spokesperson for Dundalk Chamber said the event is being held in recognition of the fact that ‘ as businesses continue to grow so does the cyber risk!’
‘It is estimated that Cybercrime costs the Irish economy €630 million annually.
‘Indeed, €137,500 is the average cost of a security incident in Ireland.’
The frequency of cyber attacks against Irish Businesses has risen from 25% in 2012 to 44% currently, considerably higher that the global average of 32%.
The keynote speaker at the event is Aaron Carolan, Head of Cybercrime & IT Forensics at PriceWaterhouseCooper.
‘He will put this in context for business owners and provide practical advice on how action can be taken to protect your business.’
