Small is good

THE weather of the last week highlighted what a small country we are.

Could you imagine Theresa May giving regular updates such as Leo Varadkar did during the weather event. Somehow it is hard to see it.

At times it looked a bit parochial and the almost 24 hour wall-to-wall coverage on radio and television seemed over the top, especially on Tuesday when the worst of the weather had yet arrived.

However by the end the week we had a much better appreciation of the work carried out by Met Eireann.
