DROVEWHILE DISQUALIFIED

-

A 40-year-old motorist who drove while disqualified, has received a five-month sentence on top of a ten-year driving disqualification.

Aleksejs Visnakovs, 187 Oaklawns, St Alphonsus Road, Dundalk, was stopped at Red Cow on 30 January, 2018.

Sgt Fintan McGroder gave evidence the defendant has previous convictions and was disqualified at this time.

Solicitor Barry Callan said his client, a Latvian, is single, and has been in Ireland ten years. An alcohol addiction has ‘blighted him’.

On this occasion he was taking a car to a mechanic for a friend.

Bail in the event of an appeal was set at €300 cash.

Visnakovs was granted legal aid.
