Removed from housing list

-

Chairman, Cllr. Conor Keelan queried how many applicants have been removed from the Dundalk Muncipal area housing list for reason other than having been allocated a council house.

Councillors were given statistics for Louth over the last five years, revealing that in 2013 there were 2,502 people removed from the list, which decreased to 407 in 2014, 330 in 2015. In 2016 there were 1,524 applicants taken off the list and 467 in 2017.

A council spokesman said that of these 1,432 were removed due to ‘not replying to a request for further information’. A further 1,415 were due to not being contacted by the applicant, and 1,307 were no longer qualified for receiving social housing.

The remaining numbers were removed due to a variety of reasons including being adequately housed, having alternative accommodation, a change in their circumstances, had since deceased , or left the administrative area.
