Tidy Towns funding faces change across Louth
THE way in which funding for Tidy Towns groups across Louth is allocated is being changed from 2018.
Councillors heard at their July meeting that a previous sum of €45,000 had been allocated to Dundalk Tidy Towns in 2014 and for the intervening years .
However, the method of allocation is changing from this year onwards, and a sum of €80,000 is being awarded for the entire county.
The system works through applications, and Tidy Towns committees from across Louth must apply for their share of the fund.
Director of Services, John Lawrence said the scheme had not been up and running as early as was hoped.
But he confirmed the application process is now open, and invited groups to submit their applications.
