A 34-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to stealing €1,860 from a local restaurant has had the charge struck out.

Judge Coughlan made that order after he heard Jana Gaziova, 13 Williamson’s Place, Dundalk, had paid the outstandin­g balance of €410 compensati­on.

Barrister Irene Sands said the defendant had the money with her the last day but the court had risen by the time she arrived.

In the circumstan­ces, the judge said he would strike the matter out.

Gaziova, who has no previous conviction­s, was charged with stealing €1,860, the property of then owner Tim Murphy, at Riva Brasserie, Earl Street on 25 May, 2015.

Previously, evidence was given that she stole the money from a locked safe while working in the restaurant as a cleaner and obtaining the safe keys.

The incident was captured on CCTV and Gaziova handed over €1,450 a short time later when gardaí were contacted. insulting behaviour and failing to comply with the direction of a garda at Claddagh Park, Tom Bellew Avenue on 21 June last.

His solicitor Peter Lavery said he was drunk at his mother’s house.

McGauley, who is unemployed, was granted legal aid. and address to gardaí.

Solicitor Frank McDonnell said Meehan has difficulti­es with alcohol and has moved here from Limerick.

He was granted legal aid. The matter was adjourned to 24 October next.
