SHOPLIFTING CASEPUTBACK FORADONATION

A 32-year-old woman has been given until 5 September to make a €50 donation to charity to avoid a conviction for shoplifting.

Katie McKenna, 57 Gort na Glaise, Sandy Lane, Blackrock, pleaded guilty to stealing 12 cans of Harp Lager, valued €14, from Mace, Main Street, Blackrock, on 10 June last.

It was stated on behalf of the defendant, who has no previous convictions and is on social welfare, that she paid for the goods later. A receipt was handed into court.

McKenna was granted legal aid.
